Classroom Jobs Linky Party
The fabulous Mel D. is having a classroom jobs linky party (in case ya didn’t know!). I’m joining up to say that… I don’t do classroom jobs. 🙁 I know, sad right? The truth is I found classroom jobs just to be too much for me. I did jobs my first year of teaching first grade. I don’t really know why I stopped. It just became easier for me to have the Student of the Week do whatever I need them to do. Each teacher choses a CHAMP of the week each week. (Which irriates me because my school doesn’t even use CHAMPs so why call them CHAMPS?) That student is the student of the week. They get recognized in the gym on Monday morning, get their picture taken and posted on the bulletin board by the front door of the school, and they get their name in the newspaper. I have my student of the week fill out a form about themselves and bring in pictures of themselves. They get to be my line leader, paper passer, etc. If I ever need additional helpers I ask well behaved kids, kids who look like they will just explode if they don’t get to get up and get their wigglies out, or sometimes I let the student of the week choose a helper.
I applaud all of you teachers who do use classroom jobs and make it work well for you!
YAY! So glad you linked up to my partaaay! I can’t wait to get your TPT emails so I can run & look at what you posted…so talented!
Peace, Mel D
Oh the Places We’ll Go
Hi,
I just wanted to compliment you on your lovely site. I have seen so many colorful and student friendly teacher sites such as yours from Blogger. I have no idea how to get started but would love to do so as I am not very happy with what I currently use (very complicated, time consuming and not especially child friendly. Any help or directions to find help would be lovely.
