Month by Month Math Activities for the Common Core (August-September)

I’m back from Alaska, and I had a great time! Things were so simple, peaceful, and beautiful there!

Now that I’m back, I’ve got a ton of things to do to get ready for the upcoming school year (as I’m sure all of you do too!). My first day with students is August 7th but I’ve got plenty of trainings and PD before then. Today I had student teacher training so that hopefully in the spring I will have my first student teacher!

I finished up this Month by Month math activities packet yesterday (common core aligned!). I can’t wait to use it!

Make math practice fun by using these back to school themed activities! 42 practice sheets are included and cover essential skills to practice in first grade! This packet is aligned with the common core standards for first grade. A couple of the activities cover second grade standards. I plan on using those with my high achievers.

Activities are aligned to the first grade common core standards but may be useful for end of the year kindergarteners or beginning of the year second graders. Hold on to any sheet that is too difficult for your first graders at the beginning of the year and use when you have taught that skill! I don’t expect my students to be able to complete all 42 activities by the end of September independently! Some of the more “difficult” sheets are better suited to second graders at the beginning of the year. However, if you’re like me, as the year goes on you sometimes have trouble finding a worksheet or assessment that targets a specific standard. I plan on creating these packets for each month (with fun themes) so that my students can continue to practice the standards all year long. Here’s a peek at some of the sheets included.
